Seven Fun Things.

Hello, friends! We’re currently visiting Dave’s family in Ketchikan, Alaska. We try to come back twice a year, but the pandemic has made that a little difficult for the past two years. But we’re back now! Dave’s grandma is 99 and going strong!! Isn’t that crazy? It’s always fun to visit David’s hometown because he’s lived here practically his whole life. We run into people constantly that want to chat and catch up. I don’t really have a hometown to speak of, so it feels special to me that Dave’s hometown is so small and close-knit. We have had truly fantastic weather: sunshine and low 70’s which is practically a heat wave here. I’m not trying to brag or anything (except I totally am), but I always seem to bring good weather with me to Ketchikan. We’ve been doing lots of hiking, walking on the beach, baking and relaxing. We leave on Tuesday, so we have a couple more days to hike and visit Dave’s favorite spots!

Now, let’s take a peek at some fun links I stumbled across this week:

  1. A Maple Leaf Shaped House in Alberta, Canada

Unfortunately, there aren’t any exterior shots of the home. But the interior is awesome! I can’t even fathom how difficult it was to design around all those angles. (Domino)

  2. Glamping Bubbles Around the World!

Have you ever been glamping before? I haven’t, but it’s definitely on my bucket list! (House Beautiful)

  3. Justina Blakeney’s Playful Home in Southern California

For those that might not know, Justina Blakeney is the founder of Jungalow and has a line with Opalhouse for Target. Her house is exactly what you’d expect…lots of playful color and jungle-inspired patterns. (Architectural Digest)

  4. Sources for Vintage Decor

I have professed my love of vintage before and I’ll do it again! Vintage pieces add a character and mood to a room that just cannot be replicated. Rooms that have all new furniture feel a little sterile to me. By adding just one vintage accent you can add a depth and interest to the space that is one-of-a-kind. (The Grit and Polish)

  5. These Tempeh Bliss Bowls are a delicious option if you’re looking for a vegetarian meal.

I’m currently in Alaska and we always cook a lot when we’re here. My mother-in-law is a vegetarian (well, she eats fish so she’s technically a pescatarian). I always love to try some of my favorite vegetarian recipes for her. (Love & Lemons)

  6. Sharon McMahon shared a workshop about gun laws in the US.

It’s free…just click the link and enter your email. It isn’t a debate or trying to convince you of anything. But it is a way to become more educated about guns in the US. It’s about an hour and 45 minutes long. I’m about 30 minutes in, but so far it’s super informative and helpful. (Sharon McMahon)

  7. 26 Rooms Where Curtains Made All the Difference

    I. Love. Curtains. To me, a room just doesn’t feel complete without curtains. They add a layer of softness and texture that always makes such a difference. And they’re a great opportunity to introduce another textile to a space. I’m working on the design concept for my office and patterned curtains will definitely make an appearance.
