Round Up! Cane and Rattan Barstools

Our Barstool Hunt

I have been on the hunt for barstools for our kitchen for months. We haven’t had a need for barstools in our last couple homes, so I was excited to shop for some!

I definitely wanted something visually interesting, but nothing too crazy. Our kitchen is open to the rest of the living area and dining room, so I didn’t want them to be too much of a statement and detract from the rest of the space. I decided I wanted something with some texture, but in a simple color palette. The backsplash in our kitchen has pretty thick, black grout lines, so a little black felt like an easy choice. I asked Dave for his opinion and he said, “They just need to have backs.” Since he usually doesn’t have an opinion except when it comes to function, this felt like a reasonable request.

I have always loved the look of the Parisian cafe chairs and finally found some that were a great deal. BUT almost as soon as I found them, they went out of stock. The hunt continued, but I couldn’t find anything that I liked as much. Finally a couple months later, I saw they were back in stock and I snagged them up immediately. They are the perfect fit for our house and our kitchen!

My Love of Cane + Rattan in the Kitchen

I wanted to do a roundup of cane and rattan barstools specifically because they add a wonderful texture to your kitchen. Kitchens are often a lot of hard surfaces. The cabinets, countertop and backsplash all need to be durable and easy to clean. Barstools are the perfect opportunity to introduce a little character and texture to the space. Not to mention, I love having a place for people to sit and chat while I cook. Here are some of my favorites! Let me know what you think!
