At Caroline Klein Design, we believe that your home should tell the story of YOU and your family. No house should be the exact same because, let’s face it, no family is the exact same. We design homes that simultaneously look beautiful and work hard for your busy family.

I’m a Pacific Northwest girl, transplanted to South Carolina. For as long as I can remember I’ve been browsing home + garden magazines, rearranging my room, and putting together mood boards. Upon hitting my late-twenties, I decided it was time for a career shift, so back to the classroom I went! Once I was armed the technical knowledge necessary for this field and an eye for design, I started my own firm in 2021 with the goal of simplifying the design process and creating beautiful homes for my clients and their families.

By digging into the lives of all the people that live in your home, we design spaces that reflect your personalities and work hard for your family. We feel that home should be a sanctuary from the outside world and the place where you create lifelong memories.

FUNCTION

When a space is organized and thoughtfully laid out, it promotes efficiency and productivity, which allows your family to move through daily routines with less stress. At CKD, we want to alleviate daily stress and create a sense of calm by ensuring the spaces we design are thoughtfully considered. With attention to storage and function, we use our expertise to create balanced and functional spaces that simultaneously look beautiful.

Where it all began

  • We bought our first home. The ‘before’ is tough, clearly. Shockingly, I actually wasn’t the one that had my foot on the gas. My husband was all in when he saw this bright purple Victorian in a small town outside of Atlanta. I had reservations. It didn’t have a kitchen, the landscaping was a MESS, there was a massive handicap ramp in the backyard, and it didn’t have a subfloor. But he persisted and I broke down.

  • We spent a year dreaming, designing, demoing, and renovating the 120 year old home. (We kept the purple though!) There were lots of mistakes, gallons and gallons of paint, plenty of unexpected expenses, more than a few new power tools, and a couple marital spats. But I was freaking hooked. I knew that it was my goal in life to make sure that everyone felt as good in their home as I felt in mine. Thus, the journey began!
