Home Office Mood Boards - I need your help choosing!

Up until this point, I have been focusing exclusively on updating the main living area in our house. Our kitchen, dining room, living room and entry are all one large open-concept space. We obviously spend almost all of our time in this area, so that was my priority. I wouldn’t call the main living area done, by any means, but it feels cozy and like home to us. But that’s the fun for me! I love to tinker and rearrange and change my home over and over. It helps me stay creative and I enjoy it. I’m not a set-it-and-forget-it person. Plus, I think our homes should be ever-evolving because our lives are after all.

I spend a lot of time at home. A LOT. And since my husband isn’t exactly what I would call “low energy,” I have a dedicated office space in one of our spare bedrooms to avoid distractions. I’m super fortunate to have a space that’s solely mine to hunker down and get stuff done. But right now it isn’t the most inviting or cozy spot. It has bright yellow walls, plastic blinds, and absolutely no organizational system. Every time I have a Zoom call or Facetime in that room, I look like I’m going into liver failure because of the yellow reflection onto my skin. Not necessarily the look I’m going for, you know?

All that to say, my office is the next project! I want to have a cozy and welcoming spot that I don’t mind spending hour in working and brainstorming. I need it to feel clean and simple because my brain works best in a calm environment, but I also want it to feel very comfortable. Plus, I want it to have a modern-traditional vibe. My style is fairly traditional, but we live in a house built in 1965 so I want to infuse some of that personality into each of the rooms. I’m keeping a couple of my pieces: my desk, chair and table lamp mainly.

I’ve pulled together three concepts and I’d LOVE to know what you think in the comments below!

Option 1

I like that this option has a color scheme that flows so seamlessly with the rest of the house. The curtains are a classic William Morris pattern from the 1800s, which I love.

Option 2

I saw these curtains and fell in love. Since we probably won’t be in this house forever, I didn’t really want to put up wallpaper. But these curtains are the perfect way to add some drama, in a non-permanent way. To keep things from looking garish, I kept all the other elements pretty simple.

Option 3

I have an antique Persian rug in my office right now layered on top of a sisal rug. I wanted to create an option that would allow that to be a showstopper. I love it juxtaposed with the gray-blue wall color, and simple curtains.
