Seven Fun Things.

Happy Sunday!! Are you doing anything fun to celebrate the 4th of July? Dave is going to smoke a brisket for the first time on his smoker. He has been researching for days and it is hysterical. He’s going to wake up at 3 in the morning to start it, while I remain dead asleep in bed. HOWEVER, I do have some serious sides lined up as supporting actors in the meal. Actually, let’s be honest, sides are the best part of the meal. I’ll keep you posted on how the brisket turns out. I hope you guys have a fun long weekend with lots of friends and plenty of food!

  1. For you music lovers: the music rooms of 6 famous musicians

This was so fun! Some of the rooms were unexpected, but that’s what I loved. Which is your favorite? (Architectural Digest)

  2. Studio Ashby’s workspace in London

I love their strong use of pattern to achieve interest in a space that has all white walls. It feels clean and calm without being too visually busy. (Domino)

  3. I’m definitely in favor of the snacks-for-dinner movement.

This feels like the perfect solution to summer dinner: minimal cooking, flexible ingredients and casual presentation. (Camille Styles)

  4. What is your interior design style, based on your enneagram?

Mine was pretty spot on… (Everygirl)

  5. Nancy Meyer’s home tour…DEAD, my friends, dead.

She worked with Mark Sikes, an immensely talented and well-respected designer, and the result is truly impeccable. A limited color palette, woven textures, black for the perfect amount of contrast, and the dreamiest pool situation. (Architectural Digest)

  6. I made the chocolate chip cookies from this cookbook and they were *chef’s kiss*.

Claire Saffitz’s cookbook Dessert Person is absolutely stuffed with so many good recipes. I wanted to make everything immediately! But I decided to start with chocolate chip cookies because it felt like the most classic baked good of all. HIGHLY recommend, guys.

  7. A 17th century house and barn that is eye candy

Okay, I’m not usually a converted-barn person. They feel a little overdone and can feel cavernous. But this one feels cozy and special. The herringbone floors add an element of polish, and I love that the designer chose modern furniture as a juxtaposition to the history of the structure. (House + Garden)
