Amazon Round Up! Curtains

People often find window treatments very intimidating, or they are simply forgotten. What a mistake! Window treatments are a game changer. They add a softness to a room that is critical. When I walk into a room without draperies or some kind of window treatment, it just feels off. It’s like tasting a dish that doesn’t have salt. It doesn’t taste bad, per se, but it doesn’t taste good. It’s a critical component of a room design.

But unfortunately, window treatments can cost you a pretty penny. I wanted to do a round-up of some affordable window treatments that you can install yourself. And bonus, these are all found on Amazon, which makes for quick shipping (usually).

A couple notes about curtains and window treatments…

  • Make sure your curtains are wide enough. Your curtains should look voluminous.

  • Layer your window treatments. I love to layer a bamboo shade with curtains. It makes things feel cozy, styled and intentional.

  • Hang your curtain rods high and wide! Hopefully you’ve heard this advice before, but this is a foolproof way to elevate your windows. It makes your windows look way larger and often makes your ceilings look taller.

  • Don’t be afraid to go a bit bolder with pattern. If you have a very simple color scheme or room design, window treatments can be a great way to introduce a little something extra.

My Picks from Amazon

1 // Pinch Pleat Double Width Faux Linen Curtain - These look so luxe. I love the double width, and the pinch pleat is a beautiful detail on a simple fabric. ($262 for one panel)

2 // Warm Gold Curtain Rod - I bought this curtain rod for our living room and I’m a big fan. It was a breeze to install and the color isn’t too bright. ($73)

3 // Velvet Curtains in London Blue - I love this color! Velvet curtains are a fun trend right now, and this Amazon find is a good way to dip your toe in the trend without committing too much money. I’m thinking I want to do velvet curtains in one of the bedrooms in our house. ($56 for one panel)

4 // Toile Cotton Curtain Panel - These toile curtains give me such Nora Ephron vibes. It feels like they would be in Kathleen Kelly’s apartment. Should we do a Fictional Client post for modern-day Kathleen Kelly? ($50 for one panel)

5 // Windowpane Blackout Curtains - These are a great opportunity to introduce a little tiny bit of pattern without being too bold. ($45 for one panel)

6 // Bronze Drapery Rings - A necessity! Please, please, please use drapery rings instead of the pocket rod. Or, god forbid, curtains with grommets. ($17)

7 // Acrylic and Gold Curtain Rod - I’m dying to incorporate this into a project. A bit transitional, but nothing too flashy. ($84)

8 // Vertical Color-block Black and White Curtains - I included this in one of the options for my office mood boards. Again, a good way to introduce some interest without too much busyness. ($48)

9 // Pinch Pleat Darkening Curtain in Beige - Another classy double width option. This one also features a pinch pleat and the simple color makes it look very expensive. ($261 for one panel)
