Nancy Meyers Your Kitchen

Who doesn’t love a Nancy Meyers rom com? I’ve mentioned before that oftentimes the set is as important (if not more!) to me, than the plot or acting in a TV show. Sorry not sorry, but it’s who I am! And no one has better movie sets than Nancy Meyers. The houses are always stunning and feel approachable. They’re obviously a couple notches above what is the norm, but they still feel lived in.

My favorite rooms in her movies are always always always the kitchens. The counters are scattered with ingredients, dishes are stacked everywhere, and there are always a couple baked goods! Here are some of my favorites:

So now onto the meat of this blog post: how to add a Nancy Meyers’ flare to your own kitchen. The important thing to remember is more is more! The sets always have layers and layers and layers of food, dishes and flowers. The spaces are just begging for you to come in and explore, nibble and make a cup of tea. I’ve linked some of my favorite pieces, but I would bet that you have a lot of these things in your house already. Always start by shopping your own home and don’t be afraid to rearrange! It keeps things interesting for yourself and often makes you fall in love with a piece all over again in its new space.

  1. Display cookbooks on the counter.

My favorites: Cook This Book, Dessert Person, Ottolenghi Simple, Rodney Scott’s World of BBQ.

  2. Stack plenty of dishes around.

You’ll have dishes right at your finger tips and it adds so much charm!

  3. Always have fresh fruit in bowls and berry baskets.

I am obsessed with these berry baskets!

  4. Add art.

Some of my favorite female artists lately.

  5. Keep herbs in pots on the window sill.

Makes it look like you’re going to whip up a fresh tomato basil pasta sauce!

  6. Arrange flowers and branches in vases.

Obviously. Take a stroll around the neighborhood and clip long branches. Free decor!

  7. Install pendant lights, if you don’t have them already.

Or swap out your existing pendant lights for a more charming option. These and these are cute, classic options.

  8. Lay out baked goods beneath glass domes.

This is one of the most iconic Nancy Meyers moves! I love this one, this pretty pink one, and this affordable option.

  9. Lay down a rug in the kitchen.

I currently have a vintage rug in our kitchen and I love it. Search eBay or Facebook Marketplace if you want a vintage option. Or there are good washable options out there nowadays if you’re worried about spills.

  10. Add a butcher block table, perhaps?

I added the butcher block table my grandpa and I made to our kitchen recently. It’s wonderful! It adds some extra counter space and I love that the wood tones add some warmth to our all-white kitchen.
